A Quick Summary of My Current Life

Because this is my first post, I figured I'd just give a quick summary of what my current life is like. I'm a freshman at Emory and Henry College. If you're like most people, you are now wondering where that is. It's in the middle of nowhere in Emory, VA. It's a super small school, and it gets a little creepy sometimes...not gonna lie. Its straight up haunted, which can get creepy for sure. I joined the swim team (thats a perk of being a D3 school, you can basically join any team you want!) so thats been very interesting. I've never swum in my entire life, so you can imagine my surprise when I donned my swim cap and suit and jumped in for the first time. Let me tell you all something, college swimming is intensely hard. We do all these heart rate zone workouts and it can get a little overwhelming, but its really cool to be on a team. We got sweatshirts last week! and sweatpants! and parkas for the swim deck!! so thats exciting. As far as academics go, I declared my major for next semester as Mass Communications, and I kind of want to minor in Sociology, but I also kind of want to be an elementary school teacher, but then again I really want to travel...so basically, I have no idea what I'm doing as far as academics go, yay Liberal Arts education! Anyway, as far as social life goes, I'mma...workin on it. I wanted to go to a school where I knew absolutely no one, you know, for adventure and expansion of the mind and whatnot, and I didn't know that branching out would be so difficult! I love the girls that I live with, though, they are hilarious. Not so much at two in the morning when they are drunk and I'm trying to sleep...but other than that, I really do love them. They make living in the Freshman Co-Ed dorm much more tolerable...and loud. I still have all my wonderful friends back home, though, which are the ones I really really adore. I've known most of them since grade school and a few even date back to kindergarten. We joined a girl scout troop (that we did nothing for) freshman year of high school, and we spent the past four years doing a plethora of things together. We like to have themed parties and dress up for no reason. I love them more than life itself :) I have a brother who's 21, and two great parents who are no longer together, but both of them still have their own lives and are happy. My mom has a boyfriend that she lives and he is a really nice guy, kind of dork, but still a good person. And my dad is a social butterfly with a seriously busy schedule. AKA, today he ran a marathon with a group of his fitness-crazed buddies, he's insane, but you have to love him. Oh! and one more thing, I actually have a boyfriend at the current moment, his name is Jordan and he's just as weird as I am, if you can believe it. We've been dating for two months now, so i guess well just see how it goes...I feel like this was not a quick summary at all, sorry for that, but there will be more posts to come! Tomorrow I have to do a swim practice (we have to do all our workouts on our own over Christmas break, and send my coach our 'test set' times via e-mail...told you it was intense) But then I get to make a really awesome Christmas tree cake for the annual Christmas party that my girl scout friends and I all throw each year. We do secret santa, and look at lights, and wear pajamas, and eat food, and laugh a lot, so thats exciting. I guess thats all for now, happy December 18th!-JJ
